Despite its shortness, February sometimes feels a little long around here. This year, however, February was gorgeous and I just couldn't get tired of it. Andy and Iris keep a little calendar on which they tape cut-out weather symbols, and by our count February in Wisconsin had 14 Super Sunny days (that's not partly sunny either, because those days get a cloud and a sun cut-out). Add 5 good snowfalls and you've got better than half the month with winter weather that is truly a dream come true. And here we are at the end already. Today there was some bare ground peaking up at us from the south-side pasture. The seed order is in and the sap is really thinking about doing some running. For the first time today, spring popped into my mind, just for a tiny warm moment. I know full well what March can bring, but I just couldn't help myself. Especially when my dad gifted us with a small bunch of forsythia branches, from a friend's garden, already pushing their sweet blooms.
Iris must have felt it too because she asked again (for the 1024 time) if she could ride her bike on the driveway. Unfortunately there is still some glacial ice out there, but it won't be long...
Hope your weekend was filled with just a hint of spring. Happy March!
