She woke to pancakes, a small pile of presents and the 6th candle for her birthday ring. Her presents: a homemade skirt from mama, her special birthday book (this one), and definitely the favorite...a whittling knife with a deerskin sheath made by a friend. She had to get whittlin' by the fire right away.
Nonnie's spectacular cake that fit the pioneer theme that started with the special birthday treat last year.
The requested "kids only" birthday party. (That just meant Andy and I didn't get to invite our friends!)
Goodness this kid is growing. With a knife on her side and no training wheels on her bike, she's bound for adventure.
We love you Iris. You light our lives with your happiness. We're so proud of your thoughtful ways, your sensitive and nurturing self. May your 6th year be full of amazement. Happy birthday big girl.
