signs of the season

Friday homeschooling still in her pj's.  Couldn't wait to get started on that bird study.  Using different utensils and nuts and seeds to learn about bird's beaks.
While they worked Elsa and I roasted the pumpkin for Papa's requested birthday pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting.
Some last minute secret wrapping (his shirt says "39", but you knew that) and birthday preparations.  In the late afternoon Andy's mom arrived bringing with her our sweet niece Lila, a super fun cousin surprise for the girls.
Happy Birthday sweet Papa.  We love you so.

Today brought with it fevers and sore throats and so a very quiet day was had.  Homemade playdough, lots of reading on the couch, board games, healing sore throat tea (that cherry bark is already getting a work out), soup in the pot and a new knitting project on the needles for me, while a babe napped in my lap by the fire.

Here's to a week of wellness and the end of the election season.  There must be some peace in that!  See you at the poles.
