a post in which I reach deep for something to say other than... we are going on Vacation!

Homeschooling continues around here through the summer, but it mostly looks like long hours spent drawing intricate pictures with papa and proudly designing cardboard frames in which to hang them on their wall.  They have been learning a bit about knights, castles and...well, moles.  Mae is really interested in moles right now, perhaps you can see her little underground mole home on the bottom left of the picture, right next to the proper dungeon.  The girls love to hear stories of the hours Andy spent as a kid drawing intricate pictures of underwater scenes or haunted houses (his two admitted faves).  I do so hope they inherit their dad's love and skill in drawing, somehow my own hours of  drawing horses (all appropriately labeled with color and name) really only seemed to gain me good experience in neatly labeling (if you've seen any of my horse drawings lately you'd know what I mean, sigh.)
And then there are the field trips here and there.  Yesterday's was pretty fun.  A big voyageur style canoe full of friends and a day at the park with a picnic supper.  Now, that felt like summer!

And finally, we'll be off soon for our own annual family adventure to the big lake.  The tents, bags, knitting baskets, pond nets, beach toys, books, bikes, lawn chairs, swim goggles and the like are starting to pile up in anticipation.  Sure hope we can all fit...

See you back here soon!
