postcard from the road

So, we packed up the old subaru, escaped the early cold and snow of the north, and found our way to a deserted tropical island! O.k., it wasn't totally deserted, but there were only 2 other campers and in the mornings we had the beach totally to ourselves.  Palm covered shade shelters, cold water showers, salty sea breezes, crystal clear starry skies.  Nighttime walks on the beach to look for crabs.   Terns, pelicans, sandpipers, plovers, Magnificant Fritgate birds (life list!), red shouldered hawk.

Dolphins chased us along the shore, we filled our bags with treasures from the sea, there was plenty of sand in our sleeping bags and bug bites on our ankles.  It was a little bit of paradise.

We're back to civilization now, but headed further south soon.  We'll try to send another postcard.  Love to all in the snowy north!
