the hardest part
Maybe the hardest part is walking into the house after dark, everything aglow, dinner cooking in the kitchen, girls playing nearby, everything so normal. And then remembering that it's not anymore.
Maybe the hardest part is seeing him tired and worn out and wishing so much to take it from him.
Maybe the hardest part is the never ending job of researching and reading and listening to advice and still never being sure what to do.
Maybe the hardest part is fighting to bring back rhythm and routine to your days so that the girls can thrive, even when you feel like you might crumble.
Maybe the hardest part is having patience for the everyday sibling squabbles, the usual whining, the fussing over what's for breakfast, when your mind is troubled and your heart is full of fear.
Maybe the hardest part is 3am, when the house is quiet and your mind is not.
Maybe the hardest part is how your confidence in the future (where you mind so often dwells) has been shaken.
Maybe the hardest part is overcoming the dark corners of your mind.

If only I could take this all from you and Andy, I would do it in a minute. I am with you both in heart and mind continually.
