spring

Somehow a whole month has slipped by since the last time I posted.  A month full of many school related performances and the busyness that comes with the melting of snow and arrival of spring. It has been heart-warming and bittersweet to see the girls shining faces among their peers on stage.  They seem to be thriving in this new school and my heart swells with love and pride and the ache of missing Andy.
I've been working on a few other writing pieces.  It's felt good to put my energy into a project, but now I need to turn to yard and garden clean-up.  The crocuses are blooming and the pussywillows have popped and there is gravel all over the lawn from the many times the snowplow came.  Last night I stepped out with the dogs before bed and the sky was cystal clear with a million stars and the funny beeping of the woodcock filling our valley.  Memories of last spring came flooding back.  Our return at this time from Miami, how we were still filled with desperate hope and how the season came rushing in to give Andy one last boost of energy.  He breathed it in for all it was worth and stayed with us until the very last day of spring.

Lila has been begging to come see the three of you. Can we plan a Spring trip to the farm? The kids have performances coming up, too. Time to step outside and breathe some fresh air... until the snow hits. :) Sending you love.
