The monarch emerges with wings still wet. We watched as it pumped fluid from its body into the wings. Soon they were full size and ready for trying...
and away it flew....We learned a lot about the monarch's life cycle (including their amazing feats of flight to Mexico each year!). My friend Amy pointed us to a fabulous Nova program called The Incredible Journey of the Butterflies. Iris loved it. You might want to check it out too.
