Saturday was Halloween, of course. The pumpkins were a big hit this year and we lit them several nights in a row. Iris learned about Trick or Treat but since we really only went "trick or treating" at Nana's she didn't learn about all the candy (I know we can only deceive her so long). She instead got popcorn and her first pomegranate. That was treat enough.
Elsa "dressed up" in her newest handknit (Nana) and looked decidedly elfin, if you ask me.

Iris
was elfin having asked Nana to make her a "little elf" costume. Complete with wings and elf shoes.

As a bonus, her costume from last Halloween still fit and she was brave enough to wear the mask this year. She decided she really liked "roaring" everyone.

Then, on Monday, more excitement. Papa's birthday! We sent Papa and Elsa out on an early morning walk and Iris and I made a very yummy chocolate tort. In case you didn't know, birthday cake is best made (at 7:00 in the morning) wearing your swimming suit over your clothes and your birthday crown upside down (I think that part must be for good luck). She was a big help cutting the parchment paper.

Happy Birthday sweet Papa. Hope you like the tort and the farm animal candles! We love you!
