rainy day crafting

Iris is lucky. She is surrounded by people who make things. The people in her world make things as a way of life, for utility, for art, for the joy of creating. Iris thinks pretty much everything is made by hand (she has only just recently begun to grasp the concept of "Target"...oh alas). She often asks "who made this?" when pondering an object or toy. And often we can answer that question with a name of a person she knows.

We hope to pass to her the joy of "making". So on a rainy weekend afternoon when Elsa was sleeping and Iris stopped bouncing long enough to pause and ask to "make something" I was more than happy to oblige. As she worked she told me eagerly about the friend who would receive this gift she was making. And so (in the midst of one of those rainy rough weekends that tries a parents' patience) we carved out a little hour of creating and giving.

Hope you are finding a moment of grace in your everyday.
