eleven

Elsa turned 11 last weekend.  We celebrated in quarantine with decorations, sweet cards in the mail and a bouquet from her favorite Jessica at the end of the driveway.  Nonnie brought a Totoro cake and electric guitar (watch-out!).  Lots of sweetness to be had.
Elsa also continued to work on her rocket with Aaron. She is so excited about this project and although we didn't get to launch it on her birthday the time is close and she can't wait!  Aaron for his part is so kind, gentle and patient.  A true teacher, like her dad.  Bittersweet in every way.

Iris created a treasure hunt with little gifts after each of 17 clues (that was a big hit!), badminton was played, and smores were eaten, one morel was found (!) and a favorite movie was watched.  It was all the activities she wished for and she was all smiles for two days.
This girl rocks me with her creative spirit, her need to understand how things work, to take them apart and study them, to put them back together in her own way.  She is a patient do-er. She is determined and tough and has the best laugh around.  She is a bright light in every way.
Happy 11th Birthday Elsa Mae.  We love you so.
