This weekend, in the broad light of day, we went to see if our friend Chuck's newly built elf house was inhabited. Chuck built it (for the elves of course) when a big old oak came down in a wind storm this summer.

Hollow inside and just certainly a place that elves would love. He fashioned a door with an antler handle. A ladder

and a teeny, tiny inside space. Perfect for small children and elves. We have yet to see elves in the light of day (we think they run between the dapples of light, just outside the reach of our eyes) but they left some evidence for Iris and Elsa. Two perfect, sparkly rocks. Just the right size to fit in a child's hand. Proof, you see.

And then another Chuck masterpiece, the treehouse! With a rope bridge, great views and interesting places to climb.

It's so good to have a friend like Chuck who truly believes in the magic of childhood. Who knows that total enchantment is just the next discovery waiting. That each day is full of those very opportunities. Right out the door. Thank you for sharing the joy and inspiration.
